10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Psalm 84:10-12 (KJV)
There are times when we are reminded of the brevity briefness of life. (Proverbs 27:1, James 4:14) It is an unchangeable fact that we could die today. If we truly believed that today could be our last, then we may do some things a little different. If we knew the exact date of our passing, we would probably have entirely different priorities.
Where Would You Go?
If you could go anywhere you wanted, where would it be? Would you take a long vacation? Would you go hunting or fishing? Would you visit another country? There is nothing wrong with any of these destinations. But nowhere is better than being in the presence of our Heavenly Father! (Psalm 84:10)
Would you go to a worshipping place?
“In the courts of the Lord.” (Verse 10) The word “courts” speaks of a place that is surrounded by walls. This reminds us of God’s protection. (Psalm 122:1)
Would you go to a worldly place?
“…the tents of wickedness…“ (Verse 10) Tents are a temporary place. A house is considered permanent.
What Would You Do?
If today was your last day on this earth, how would you spend your time? Would you surrender? Would you serve? “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15) Would you sin? (Matthew 6:19-20)
Let us go where the Lord would have us to go. Let us do what the Lord would have us to do. Let us stay as long as He would have us to stay. May we seek to go to a worshiping place. May we surrender to the Lord completely. May we serve the Lord daily.
What would you do? Where would you go, if today were your last day?
