And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
1 Samuel 10:26 (KJV)
Humans possess five senses. These are sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Our touch might be that of love, of passion, of tenderness, of compassion, of help, of deliverance, or of curiosity. Often, our touch can affect change in the objects we touch. The word of God is full of instances where He touches people. In fact, where God comes on the scene, things are not the same again.
According to our key verse, no man can accomplish God’s will without being touched by Him. A touch from God deals both with the physical and the spiritual. The changes produced by this touch take place within one’s spirit and are reflected on the outside.
What great things the touch of God can do?
T – Transforms (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The touch of God brings forgiveness of sins to those who repent and believe. The transforming touch of God makes everything new.
O – Ordains (John 15:16a)
Many Christians fail because they do not work for God. The touch of God ordains or appoints all Christians into God’s service.
U – Unifies (Psalm 133:1)
Many churches fail because their members do not work together. They are divided. The touch of God brings harmony and love.
C – Conquers (Romans 8:37)
Many Christians give up too easily. The touch of God gives us the courage to conquer. Christ furnishes the strength which enables us to keep on keeping on. (Philippians 4:13)
H – Heals (Matthew 8:3)
Many have never experienced divine healing because of a lack of faith. (Hebrews 11:6) The touch of God brings physical, mental, and spiritual healing. (Matthew 9:29)
As believers, we should allow God to touch our hearts, rather than resist because there is no other touch like the touch of God. God’s touch is essential in any and every individual’s life. The Bible declares that no man can come to God if he isn’t drawn by the Spirit. Experiencing the touch of God enables us to understand who He is and gives us faith in Him.
